Easy and homemade Afghan bread: Afghan bread, also known as “naan-e-afghani,“ is a delicious staple in Afghan cuisine. Here’s a simple recipe you can try at home: Ingredients: 4 cups all-purpose flour,1 teaspoon salt,1 tablespoon sugar,2 teaspoons active dry yeast,2 cups warm water,2 tablespoons vegetable oil or melted butter Sesame seeds or nigella seeds (optional, for topping) Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and dry yeast and sugar and salt. Mix until it forms a dough. Knead the dough: On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1-2 hours, or until it doubles in size. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a baking stone or a heavy baking sheet, place it in the oven to heat up. Shape the bread: Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into 2 equal-sized portions. Roll each portion into a ball and then flatten it into an oval or round shape, about 1/4 inch thick. Bake the bread: If using a baking stone or sheet, carefully place the shaped dough onto the hot stone/sheet. You can also bake them on a parchment-lined baking tray. Sprinkle sesame seeds or nigella seeds on top if desired. Bake for about 10-15 minutes or until the bread puffs up and the edges turn golden brown. Serve: Once baked, remove the bread from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Serve warm with your favorite dishes or use it for wraps and your homemade Afghan bread!
