We don’t plan to include the 2005 tripods in the game files but instead they will be an easy and free “DLC/Mod“ to install and a toggle will be available to switch between both tripods.* Since the very beginning of this project there has been comments and concerns of people believing this project would never see the light of day as we were staying so close to the 2005 film and using a movie accurate design. People worry this would lead to issues between us and Paramount. While we stood our ground in wanting to stay true to the original inspiration, we also realized that in this case, without official licensing or permission from Paramount, this could be a risk and we would rather play it safe this far into the project. Back in February, immediately after EldeBH finished the movie accurate tripod that we currently have in game, Elde & I along with some other talented concept artist worked together to come up with a design that gave off the same horror and amazement as the movie designs while creating something original, better, and something that would be relatively easy to implement and replace the current tripods. We plan to keep a lot of the same functionalities game wise but with its own unique twists here and there with inspirations from many different War of the Worlds adaptations. After a long 9 months, the tripod model is now complete and will soon be animated, put into the game engine and the work will begin to bring it to life in game.
