Akalabeth: World of Doom is the first game and the ancestor of the Ultima series (index 0), as well as the first game on computers of the fourth generation. Akalabeth was released as a standalone game, and received its serial number in the Ultima series only a few years later, when several games were released under the Ultima name. Akalabeth is recognized as one of the earliest known examples of computer role-playing games (although it was originally an amateur project).
