Alphablocks Magic E

Here we are introduced to ’Magic E’. ’Magic E’ is commonly used to help explain the ’split digraph’ - a digraph being two letters making one sound, and a split digraph when those two letters are ’split’ apart in a word by a consonant. ’Magic E’ works TOGETHER with the other vowel to create ONE new sound, such as the sound ’ei’ pronounced ’ay’ as in ’same’, ’late’ and ’cake’. Here, the two vowels ’a-e’ make one ’ei’ sound. It is sometimes explained that ’Magic E’ helps the vowel ’say its name’.
