Thunderstorms that brought strong winds and more than three inches of rain to the Sioux Falls area on Tuesday were seen by locals in a rare shade of green. The National Weather Service (NWS) said the severe weather was part of a derecho, an extended series of related storms with winds in excess of 58 mph. Winds from the storm reached speeds of up to 99 mph in parts of South Dakota. Several photos shared on social media show dramatic images of green skies and ominous storm clouds approaching Sioux City in the late afternoon and early evening.
