Launched in 1930, the BUGATTI Type 50 heralded a new era with the introduction of the Molsheim marque’s first twin-cam design, a supercharged straight-eight engine of prodigious power. At a time when brute force was needed to win the Le Mans 24 Hours, a competition version was developed and three such Type 50S took part in 1931. So, in 1931, BUGATTI made its official factory debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans. Representing the pinnacle of BUGATTI’s large-capacity engine lineage, it was the Type 50S that first gave Ettore and Jean Bugatti a taste of Circuit de la Sarthe. Today, the Type 50S is an icon, an important reference within BUGATTI’s storied racing history. It is in particular the story of 50177, which was graced with the number ‘5’ that inspired a BUGATTI client’s desire to honour the marque’s unique racing heritage. The CHIRON Super Sport ‘Hommage T50S’ was born. The ‘BUGATTI Sur Mesure’ creation is finished in a dark and lustrous black, with a contrasting ‘5’
