«Борис Годунов» — одна из самых известных репертуарных русских опер, абсолютный лидер по числу музыкальных редакций. Композитор Модест Петрович Мусоргский при жизни создал две авторские редакции, его друг Римский-Корсаков — пять (!). К версии Дмитрия Шостаковича театр «Геликон-опера» обратился в 2006 году, когда мировая общественность широко отмечала столетие со дня рождения композитора. Эта редакция была создана по заказу Большого театра и вышла в свет в 1940 году. Приступив к инструментовке, Шостакович вскоре превратился отчасти в соавтора сочинения. Судьба партитуры была непростой. Премьера состоялась только в 1960 году в Кировском театре в Ленинграде. Редакция Шостаковича звучит крайне редко, поскольку очень сложна для исполнения. В спектакле занята вся труппа «Геликон-оперы», прежде всего, уникальная команда басов, собравшаяся в театре в последние годы. Opera “Boris Godunov“ is considered the leader in the number of musical interpretations. The composer himself created two versions of the work, and his friend N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov created five. One of the most striking musical editorials was the interpretation of D. Shostakovich. The composer significantly transformed the instrumental part of the work’s score. He can safely be called not just an editor, but a co-author. The plot of the Opera is set against the background of the events of the time of troubles, when after the death of Tsar Ivan the terrible, the era of imposture began to flourish throughout Russia. Director of Dmitry Bertman offers a vivid interpretation of the classic work. He assembled a unique cast of basses and engaged almost the entire cast of the theater. The complex musical arrangement required special careful work, which was successfully handled by the conductor Vladimir Ponkin, as well as the musicians and soloists of the theater. The premiere of the play “Boris Godunov “at the Helikon-Opera theater took place on October 19, 2006.
