Witney - Sheep Shearing - Extra! (1969)

Title: “Extra!“ Sheep shearing in Witney, Oxfordshire. Record breaking attempt: firm of blanket makers attempt to turn raw fleece into blankets in fastest time. L/S of old country house. C/U of sheep in pen. M/S man in mayoral chains, the Chairman of the Urban District Council, gives orders for start . C/U another man starting a stop watch. Various shots men sheering 150 sheep. Various night shots of men running down country road and into barn with bundles of raw fleece. The fleece is weighed on scales. Various shots inside factory showing industrial process that turns raw fleece into yarn. We then see the yarn being woven into blankets and dyed. The blankets are stitched by room full of seamstresses. The blankets are folded and packed into special gold boxes. C/U of clock. According to narrator the time taken is 8 hours and 11 minutes. Various shots helicopter taking off outside factory. Factory workers wave and clap. Point of view from inside helicopter as it approaches airport
