Kizumonogatari - A Brutal Yet Beautiful Spectacle

Kizumonogatari is the Dark Souls of Kizumonogatari movies, easily. After a month of work and another month of sleeping in and playing video games, another Monogatari video (waow). Rewatching the trilogy and reading the novels for this video really opened my mind to how great the series is once again, as I was genuinely blown away by the quality in a way I didn’t even notice the first time. The character themes, the animation, everything was top-notch, and the quality of the writing was fantastic for both the movie and especially the novels. This is my first real attempt of dissecting and analyzing a long-course story and trying to connect all the thematic ideas together in some sort of cohesive way, so I hope the points make some sense! If they don’t, well, I screwed up! As a story of Araragi Koyomi’s transformation as a person, the themes are heavily based on understanding both his own ideals, and the way that he understands other people.
