She was born as Susan Kay Quatro in Detroit, Michigan. At the age of 6 Suzi Quatro was influenced by watching Elvis Presley perform on television. From an early age she played drums or percussion as her father had a jazz band and she took part. In 1964 Suzi’s sister Patti formed an all-female garage-rock band called “the Pleasure Seekers“ and Suzi joined the group playing bass and or singing. In 1971 Suzi Quatro moved to the UK after record producer Mickie Most spotted her and invited her to the country. While other producers tried to make her the “next Janis Joplin“, Most promised Suzi to make her the “first Suzi Quatro“, which convinced her.
