Karl Richter’s post-romantic take on Baroque opera - that is, without the use of countertenors and travesto sopranos, replacing with basses and tenors. Giulio Cesare has beautiful arias and superb orchestration. The Münchener Bach-Orchester’s continuo playing is masterful, but I won’t be uploading the recitatives. The scene cuts to Cleopatra (Tatiana Troyanos), queen of Egypt and Tolomeo’s brother, hearing from Nireno, her confident, the news about Pompeo’s murder. She knows her brother plans to kill Cesare
