Alex Rudinger - “HE4VY“

Uploading this here in case you missed it on the #MEINL Cymbals channel(s)! Meinl recently started offering backing tracks on their website that’re available for download. They’re ’drum-less’, so you can write your own parts / play-along to them, & they’re totally free. This one, “HE4VY“, was written by fellow Meinl artist & super-sick-DOODE Navene Koperweis! Navene wrote a few others as well, & so did a bunch of other people. You can check em’ all out / download / do your thing with via the link below (!): Chris Brewer (my rep & long time friend at Meinl) asked me to make a couple of videos using Navene’s backing tracks, so I did! I listened to the songs once via the videos in the above link, but aside from that, I purposefully didn’t listen to Navene’s versions again - so I wouldn’t subconsciously start to hear any of his parts over the music. By the time I got around to actually writing for them, I couldn’t really remember anything substantial from his versions, & that’s kinda how I wanted it. I wanted to write whatever felt natural *for me* (if that makes sense). In the end, it was pretty cool to go back & listen to / watch Navene’s version, & compare it to my own. Very different, with totally different interpretations of certain parts (which is pretty rad!). Every drummer hears & plays things differently, & that fuggin’ rules. So yeah - check out some of the tracks Meinl has available, & have some fun with it yourself! Chris also asked me to just shoot it as one angle, so I didn’t do any camera angle changes - just the overhead view! Kinda like it, actually! I do enjoy the multi-cam thing, & being able to see certain parts of the kit better for certain things. But it’s also kinda nice to just have a SINGLE view the entire time. Maybe I’ll start doing this more occasionally (whadda you all think?!). & I know it’s been a while since my last upload, ya’ll! Been quite busy with session work & about a million other things. But I have quite a number of videos on deck, so I’ll get busy actually editing them together, & get back to uploading videos a bit more regularly! ANYWAY (!): Last thing before video details - gotta thank the SICK GUY Declan White for the super-sick MIX !!! As always, Declan rules, & it sounds great! Thanks D0000DE !!! Still endorse / use ACD pedals (in fact, using an ACD driveshaft here), but as Dennis @ ACD knows (& is OK with), I am a mega-nerd & sometimes like to use different pedals. Lol. Used the Dyna-Syncs for a couple weeks (just cuz) around the time of shooting these videos, but am already back on my ACD’s (which I’ve converted back to direct drive - was using them as straps for awhile), just ’cuz. What can I say, ya’ll - I like nerding out on different pedals 😂. & of course, big love & thanks to everyone that continues to support me on Patreon! Especially with my lack of interaction as of late - like I said, it’s been a busy time. But I truly do appreciate all of you VERY much. For real - big love, ya’ll.
