2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry awarded to Moungi Bawendi, Louis Brus and Alexei Ekimov

The 2023 Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Moungi Gabriel Bawendi, Louis E. Brus and Alexei I. Ekimov for their work on the discovery and synthesis of quantum dots. At a press conference held at the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, it was announced that the Nobel Prize in Chemistry was awarded to Ekimov and Brus, who created quantum dots in their independent studies, and Bawendi, who radically changed the production of the chemical in question. It was noted that quantum dots have developed LED light lamps and are used in the illumination of computer and television screens with QLED technology and in mapping biological tissues in biochemistry and medicine.
