A Simple Curve

Kris Lemche gives a stellar performance as Caleb, a charming small-town entrepreneur determined to keep his woodworking shop afloat inspire of the relentless idealism of his business partner and father, the aging hippie, draft-dodging Jim, played by Michael Hogan (Battlestar Galactica). If he can deep Jim distracted long enough, Caleb sees a chance to turn their fortunes around when Matthew (Matt Craven), a wealthy American, arrives in the valley planning to build a small, luxury resort. Caleb makes a deal with Matthew that could set him up for good, if it doesn’t destroy his family first. Breathtakingly shot in the spectacular Slocan Valley of British Columbia, A Simple Curve was voted one of Canada’s Top Ten Films, it’s a “tender, funny movie“ (Georgia Straight) with “wisdom that is rare for a film these days“ (The Toronto Star). Variety called it a “beautiful gem“ and CBC a “smart-funny, intricately balanced debut“.
