The films, whatever I think about the universe of the Watches (zero inspiration from books here), have one redeeming quality: funnily enough, this fantasy story speaks volumes about everyday life of an average resident of Moscow in the 2000s. Even the product placement is painfully telling. Unfortunately, English dubbing is horrible (the official one, at least); the subtitles are far from ideal, but the original voices are irreplaceable. Also, while Russian cut of Night Watch is much better at explaining the concept of Others, International cut will help you avoid the worst scenes. ...and of course from the very first viewing many years ago I managed to ship the characters who shared only one scene, not even exchanging any words. The ones belonging to the opposite sides.
