Daniel Purcell - Overture

The Overture to Virtue in Danger, by Daniel Purcell (1664 -- 26 November 1717). Performed by Sprezzatura from the album Brotherly Love, the Music of Daniel Purcell. He was the younger brother of Henry Purcell. As a teenager, Daniel Purcell joined the choir of the Chapel Royal, and in his mid-twenties he became organist of Magdalen College, Oxford. He began to compose while at Oxford, but in 1695 he moved to London to compose for the theatre. In 1700, he came third in a competition for the best music
