According to both U.S. and British officials, two crew members of a commercial ship were killed and six others injured,.. in a strike by the rebel group using an anti-ship ballistic missile. The Greek-owned, Barbados-flagged ship was hit approximately 93 kilometers off the coast of Yemen’s port of Aden with crew members forced to abandon ship. A shipping industry source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity,.. said that U.S. and Indian warships attempted to rescue the crew,.. but three remain missing. The Houthis later claimed responsibility for the attack, which U.S. officials say was their fifth missile attack in the past two days. A Houthi spokesman said the “targeting operation“ came as the ship’s crew rejected warning messages from Yemeni naval forces. Since November last year, the rebels have been launching drones and missiles against international commercial shipping, arguing that they’re responding to Israel’s war in Gaza. The attacks have disrupted global shipping, forcing shipping companies to take longer and more expensive routes around Southern Africa.
