Haiti Gangs Try to Seize Airport in LARGEST Attack on Key Site

These are the terrifying scenes of people running to escape Haiti’s main international airport after it came under attack on Monday. Heavily armed gangs tried to seize control by exchanging gunfire with police and soldiers in their latest attack. The Toussaint Louverture International Airport was closed when the attack occurred, with no planes operating and no passengers on site. The surge in violence began on Thursday as the prime minister went to Nairobi to discuss a UN-backed deployment of a police force to help fight the gangs in Haiti. Prime Minister Ariel Henry promised to step down by early February but later stalled, saying security must be re-established first to ensure free and fair elections. The attacks have led to international concerns, with the White House urging all Americans to depart Haiti as soon as possible. John Kirby said that the National Security Council was working to provide “immediate support” to Haitian police. #haiti #gangs #airport
