Shocking moment crazed woman firebombs ex-boyfriend’s flat with flaming butane gas bottle

Shocking footage shows a crazed woman firebomb her ex-boyfriend’s flat with a flaming butane gas bottle. Lauren Marie Talbot, 39, caused an explosion outside her former partner’s home in Drapery, Northampton. CCTV shows Talbot light a butane gas bottle and try and shove it through the letterbox at around 8pm on July 18 last year. After several failed attempts, Talbot leaves the flaming bottle on the floor outside the front door and flees. Horrifying footage shows the canister explode in a fireball around two minutes later. The force of the blast blew two doors off their hinges, cracked the walls causing structural damage, and burnt the carpet. Luckily Talbot’s ex-partner was not in at the time, though evidence suggested she thought he would be, and thankfully no one was injured. Talbot was caught a short time later and charged with arson with intent to endanger life. Months before the attack, she started multiple fires inside her own flat in Shelley Street, Kingsley, Northampton, on December 21, 2022. When firefighters arrived to tackle the blaze shortly after they found the words “This flat can burn in hell” scrawled on the wall. Talbot admitted two charges of arson with intent to endanger life and was jailed for six years with an extended four years at Northampton Crown Court on Tuesday (16/1). Detective Constable Roisin Harrison, of Northamptonshire Police, said: “Lauren Talbot’s offending was exceptionally dangerous. “She could have killed someone as a result of both offences and it’s through sheer luck that no one was injured. “As you can see in the footage, the carnage she created when she set that can of butane on fire is extensive. “It could very easily have ended with a large fire throughout the block of flats, causing untold damage, and I hope this is something she reflects on during her time in prison. “I also want to take this opportunity to thank the man in this case who has supported our investigation from the beginning. “Luckily he was not in his flat that day, but the incident has understandably had a very real effect on him. “I hope this result provides him with some semblance of closure. “I am pleased to see Talbot handed this sentence and I hope it shows how seriously Northamptonshire Police take these kinds of incidents.” The Sun delivers breaking news, latest gossip and incredible exclusives around the world with hubs in London, New York, Scotland and Ireland.
