Today is Independence Day! The Fourth of July is a federal holiday in the United States commemorating the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. To celebrate Independance day and also the freedom of speech and sex in the United States we have chosen this great anthem by the US Village People, one of the first LBGTQ forerunners in the USA. Village People was the creation of Jacques Morali, a French composer. Their singles YMCA and In The NavyIt became a big hit in the gay community, the reason for releasing it today. Morali built a group of dancers around singer Victor Willis to perform in clubs and videos. Morali met the first recruit, Felipe Rose (who claims indigenous American descent and dressed as a Native American), in a New York gay bar called the Anvil. Willis hand-picked Alex Briley (who initially appeared in nondescript costumes before switching to G.I. uniforms).
