TQC 2022 - Vylderness: Worldmaking through Modular Synthesis and VR

Anıl Çamcı presents Vylderness: Worldmaking through Modular Synthesis and VR Friday, August 26 7pm CT In this structured improvisation for modular synthesizer and virtual reality, Çamcı explores the continuity between abstract and representational sounds through various synthesis techniques including frequency-modulation, subtractive, and granular synthesis. Audio-reactive visual elements rendered in real-time using a game engine situates the performer in a virtual space through projection. This project builds up on the composer’s audiovisual work Temas, which made its US debut at the Experimental Sound Studio as part of the Oscillations Series. The performance of Vylderness lasts about 20-30 minutes. Anıl Çamcı is a multimedia artist and professor of Performing Arts Technology at the University of Michigan.
