Volvo is ramping up its electric car production capacity at the Ghent facility, targeting 135,000 electric vehicles annually. Over half of the plant’s output in 2022 is expected to be electric models. Javier Varela, Volvo’s senior vice president for industrial operations and quality, emphasizes the Ghent plant’s readiness for an all-electric future and its pivotal role in Volvo’s global industrial network.
The C40 Recharge symbolizes Volvo’s commitment to a zero-emission future. The company plans to introduce several electric models in the coming years, aiming for half of its global sales to be fully electric by 2025. The C40 Recharge, a key component of Volvo’s new commercial strategy, can be purchased online in selected markets, offering convenience and remote purchasing options.
The C40 Recharge comes with an attractive Care package, including services like warranty, roadside assistance, and options for insurance and home charging. The vehicle combines SUV benefits with a sleeker design, featuring a distinct rear-end and a new front design that represents the face of future electric Volvos. It also boasts advanced pixel technology headlights.
Internally, the C40 Recharge offers a high seating position, unique color and deco choices, and is the first Volvo model to be entirely leather-free. It comes equipped with a top-notch infotainment system developed with Google, based on Android, with built-in Google apps and services.
The vehicle is designed for over-the-air software updates, ensuring continuous improvement post-production. It’s powered by twin electric motors and a 78kWh battery, with a fast-charging capability of 10-80% in about 40 minutes, offering an expected range of around 440 km.
