Donkey Kong Country: Level 1: Jungle Hijinxs

And here it is! In a collaboration between Nintendo and RARE, the game that made Donkey Kong into a fully-fleshed out franchise worth going bananas for! ---------- Once upon a time, within DK Island, a nasty croc known as King K. Rool, with the help of his Kremling Krew, managed to steal away all of the island’s bananas. It’s up to the first member of the DK Crew, Donkey Kong, as well as his little buddy, Diddy Kong, to fight their way through their island against all of K. Rool’s forces. All before facing the Kremling King, himself, and making sure that every last banana is back into their Banana Hoard in one piece. Many friends and family will help out, such as Cranky Kong, Funky Kong, Candy Kong, as well as multiple animal buddies, such as Rambi the Rhino, and Enguarde the Swordfish! ---------- The game consists of multiple levels, with several of them grouped together to make up different areas of DK Island, the first area is the Kongo Jungle, and the first level from there is Jungle Hijinxs. It’s a simple level with a handful of enemies to either jump on or roll over. If you go back inside DK’s house, you can get a free 1-UP Balloon. If you check out his Banana Hoard, you’ll get to see how sad he is when he realizes how empty it is... THE BANANAS MUST BE RETURNED AT ALL COSTS! ---------- There are a few pickups in the game, too: - Find a DK Barrel to release Diddy Kong to travel alongside Donkey Kong. You can even switch between the Kongs, or get forced to do that if you take damage, as the Kong you used will then run off, not coming back until you break open another DK Barrel. - There will be four letters that spell out KONG. Get them all before beating the level to get a 1-UP. - There are Animal Tokens. Get 3 of the same animal to go through a bonus round as that very animal, such as going through a bonus as Expresso after getting three Expresso tokens. - Speaking of Bonuses, normal Bonus Rooms can be found in almost every level. You either have to find an opening in certain walls, or you have to break through the walls yourself, namely by using a barrel, but you van also use an Animal Buddy like Rambi. You need to find every single Bonus Room in the game in order to raise your completion %. - Speaking of Animal Buddies, sometimes you’ll find crates that contain one. This level will have a crate from Rambi the Rhino. He will automatically knock away most enemies with his horn if you just run up to them! If an Animal Buddy gets hurt, he’ll run away like Yoshi does in Super Mario World. However, if they bump into a wall and turn around, you might still be able to mount them, again. ---------- If a level is truly completel with all of its Bonus Rooms found, its name on the map screen will gain an exclamation point (!)
