“Socially Distant Grounds and Airs: Baroque songs, psalms, and dances from England

Led by Adam Gilbert, Jason Yoshida, and Jennifer Kampani, the Thornton Baroque Sinfonia presents a live-streamed concert of songs, dances, and improvisations from early modern England and Scotland. Enjoy our program featuring vocal works by Thomas Campion, Nicholas Lanier, Henry Purcell, and Georg Frideric Handel, with instrumental works by Anthony Holborne, Peter Phillips, and Torlough O’Carolan played on period instruments. Weep to the heartbreak of Dido’s descent into the grave, chill at the power of Winter’s frosty genie, rage at the injustice of virtuous Lucrezia, sing and dance to the Night Watch, cheerful Buffons, the lilt of the Peacefull Western Winde, and the sweet sound and scent of the Honie-suckle. Premiered on Saturday, March 20, 2021
