Unused / unissued material - date and locations unclear or unknown. France, 1944? L/Ss of church steeple crumbling and falling to the ground behind some trees in a countryside setting. Tank moves along country road. British soldier clears rubble from around tank. Soldiers walk along country road. Shots of a ruined church - could be the steeple we saw tumbling to ground. Someone holds a sheet of old postcards of the church; pan across to show remains of church and steeple. Shots of a town seemingly untouched by the war. Statue of a man holding a wreath to which have been attached flags of Britain (Union Jack), France (tricolour) and American (Stars and Stripes). L/S of a statue of Christ on the cross, with ruined steps beneath. Canadian (?) soldiers walk past and then sit on the steps. Others sit on the ground near camouflage webbing - seem to be receiving instructions for further fighting. Soldier looks through hole in ruined building.
