Overcoming Binge Eating through Mindfulness

★ Sign up to be notified about my small group coaching program for January: ★ Why do people binge eat? And how can you stop binge eating – without DOING so much work? With the holiday season kicking into gear and all the stresses it can bring, I wanted to offer a simple approach for those who struggle with stress eating, overeating, or binge eating: If binge eating happens when we’re on autopilot, what would it look like to become AWARE of your binge eating? So often we focus on DOING more to “fix” a problem that we have; DOING something to change our emotional eating or binge eating behavior. But through my own direct experience and working with clients, I’ve found what’s more important is learning how to BE with whatever’s happening. When we’re on autopilot, behaviors happen automatically. But when we’re present, we can make CHOICES with conscious awareness. It’s a simple shift—from autopilot to awareness—but it’s by no means easy. So this year, instead of stressing about holiday eating behaviors, I encourage you to get curious and see what it’s like to become aware. What if you don’t need to DO more about binge eating, but BE with it while it’s happening?
