For me New York times reporter Daniel Pearl’s murder in Pakistan in 2002 signalled the beginning of the Caliphate of darkness but my ‘Song of Daniel Pearl’ commissioned by Daniel’s father Judea is my attempt to turn darkness into light - to honour his death with something powerful - played here by the mighty Andrew Lucas and ‘God’s oboist ‘John Anderson.
