“The Bright Young Things“ is the twelfth track on the 2003 release The Golden Age of Grotesque. The line “We’re so beautiful and damned“ makes reference to the 1922 F. Scott Fitzgerald novel The Beautiful and Damned. The title “The Bright Young Things“ makes reference to the 1930 Evelyn Waugh novel Vile Bodies in which a character named Adam writes a book entitled Bright young things.
