Introducing the new Allen & Heath CQ Series Mixers: CQ-12T, CQ-18T and CQ-20B. In this video, hosted by Allen & Heath product manager Keith Johnson at the legendary Troubadour in West Hollywood, CA, we take you through all of the standout features and workflows of these powerful, ultra-compact digital mixers.
The CQ Series is designed for a wide range of uses, from small- and medium-sized gigs, to band rehearsals and home recording to any number of speech-based applications (podcasts, conferences, etc.). The CQ-12T and CQ-18T models seamlessly meld tactile controls with a responsive, easy-to-read 7-inch multi-touch screen, complemented by the convenience of control via A&H’s mobile apps (CQ-MixPad and CQ4You). The third model, the CQ-20B, stands apart with its no-frills, stagebox-style design, relying exclusively on the aforementioned apps for remote control. All three models feature an all-new 96kHz audio engine and are built on A&H’s acclaimed FPGA technology, which is found in many of their higher end mixers. The CQ Series feature streamlined navigation and quick, intuitive workflows and assistants, that are designed to take the frustration out of everyday mixing tasks, particularly for less-seasoned users.
Quick Channels offer a smart solution for instrument- and application-specific processing, giving you complete channel control with just a single knob. Alternatively, if you want to go a bit deeper, you can switch to Complete Channels, which offer all the standard control you’d expect out of a typical mixer.
Helpful tools like Gain Assistant and Feedback Assistant take the stress out of soundchecking by quickly setting optimum gain levels on your inputs and intelligently dealing with feedback throughout your performances. And if you’re working in a speech-specific setting, such as a podcast, conference or theater, you’ll appreciate the Automatic Mic Mixer, which improves clarity and reduces background noise across your mix. Finally, FX Assist dynamically responds to your input signals, adjusting the effect parameters to ensure that they are constantly optimized to provide the best sound and performance possible.
Finally, all three models of the CQ Series provide a range of playback and recording options including built-in multitrack recording and playback to/from an SD card, stereo playback and recording to/from a USB storage device and the ability to function as a multi-channel USB audio interface to record with your computer and DAW of choice. The CQ series also feature built-in Bluetooth for wireless stereo playback from a mobile device, such as your phone or tablet.
