Nordmende Spectra Color Studio 1967-1968

Spectra Color Studio television receiver, manufactured by Nordmende 1967-1968, Germany. Features four picture tubes, one colour and three monochrome. With the Spectra Color Studio TV System, Nordmende wants to offer more than just a color television set. It is a professional Studio TV system at home. It provides the possibility to watch 4 different TV programs at a glance in a single device. This product has remained unique in the television industry. Described by the makers as ‘Specially designed observation monitor for television creative staff and journalists’. It was used by some sports journalists (and wealthy fans) so they could watch all the sport on all the channels on a Saturday afternoon. It was the fore-runner of the modern PIP (picture-in-picture) facility found on some current sets. Despite its innovative style, it was not a commercial success.
