Indonesia’s ‘tank boat’ prototype undergoes sea, weapon trials. The X 18 ATC (Armoured Troop Carrier) is an innovative, fast, stealthy, and highly manoeuvrable catamaran design that provides a stable weapons platform for close-in and long-range fire support in normally inaccessible coastal and riverine environments. The Cockerill C1030 is a unique lightweight, protected remote mission weapon station fitted with the MK44S 30mm cannon. Its panoramic commander’s sight permits hunter-killer operations, with target hand-offs to the gunner. The ballistic protection is up to level 4 STANAG 4569. Ammunition loading is under armoured and has a dual feed system with a minimum of 155 ready-rounds. The craft is meant to support the Indonesian Armed Forces in conducting patrols along Indonesia’s seas, rivers, and coasts, a take on operations associated with the coast guard, adding that the programme is being supported by the Indonesian defence ministry.
