KAYAK SUPPORT: LOWER JAMES RVA

Last week, we rode out to Richmond to catch a late summer bump on the James. While the levels didn’t quite reach what we were expecting, this gave me a perfect chance for my first few laps on the Lower! At 5.5 ft, waves were surfed, rocks were boofed, and fun times were had all around! This one was pretty special for me because the Upper James in Richmond was the first place I ever paddled a whitewater boat. I practiced my roll at Pony Pasture, and proceeded to swim on my first lap! After everything I’ve learned this year, it felt great to get back on the Jimmy and tie off this loose end in my paddling! Thanks so much to Adam Bagget, Sam Hopkins, Josh Pecaric and all the RVA locals for such a rad time on the James! Can’t wait to be back soon with a trailer of fresh boats! YEW!
