I turned an old robot vacuum cleaner into an RC robot abomination

I really like the idea of repurposing obsolete products. Inspired by @therealsamprentice , I rescued an autonomous vacuum cleaner from the trash and converted it to an RC robot platform. I then decided I wanted the robot to BE Sam Prentice (Mecha-Prentice), and went down the rabbit hole of making a 3D model of him from only a video screenshot, and 3D printing an animatronic head. This is probably one of the craziest projects I’ve ever had. I wasn’t thinking of Halloween, but it turned into something strangely disturbing. Nevertheless, I learned a few new tricks during this project. Thanks to Sam for his board recommendation, and apologies to Sam for immortalising him in such a strange way. All products were purchased with my own money. All opinions expressed are my own. 0:00 Introduction 0:51 Our old Samsung Navibot Navibot in action when new: The Real Sam Prentice YouTube channel: 2:10 Cytron RC controller board plan and test Cytron MDDRC10: Silly string tank: 4:18 Cytron board installation R2D2 by InnovationByLayers: :11594 7:22 The Fake Sam Prentice failed modelling attempt Low poly mask: :1097497 8:11 Image to 3D model with Creator creator Headshot Markom3D video: Character Creator 4: Headshot plugin: 9:31 Final printing and assembly 11:11 Finished ‘product’ Buy quality and affordable filament from X3D.
