English Pronunciation - The F vs V sounds (/f/ vs /v/)

In this full, FREE English Pronunciation lesson for English students, I’m going to help you to learn how to pronounce the F and V sounds (IPA /f/ and /v/) correctly, just like a native speaker of English. Some learners mix up these two sounds and sometimes pronounce them the wrong way around, most often in short words like “of“ which is pronounced with the /v/ sound so of = ɒv. To make the F sound, your top teeth should be touching the bottom lip and air is pushed out of the mouth around and through the teeth. To make the V sound less air is blown out of the mouth and instead we vibrate the vocal chords, but the teeth should be in the same position (on the bottom lip).
