SHOT PUT Men World Youth Champs Lille 2011

There were 2 competitions in one : Jacko GILL against himself and the World youth record with 3 throws over his previous record and a best of 24,35m , and 4m back the fight for the 2nd and 3rd places between USA and POLAND , finally won by the 2 American SCHULTZ 20,35m and DAYS 20,14m from OCYPA 20,08m and REGIN 19,88m, all with Pbs. It is not because Jacko GILL is out of norms that one can say that the other competitors were not good (we had top 8 over 19,60m !) and some of them will probably become good senior shot putters with time and the appropriate work. It was good to see the whole main stand watching and cheering for shot put which proved to be a spectacular event ! But who the hell was the IAAF “official“ who said “NO !“ when the chief judge of the shot put has been asking for lines to be put at 21 and 23m before the start of the competition , saying that 17 and 19m were enough (!?!) ? ...It could certainly have helped the spectators and the medias !
