Finding Rare Mining Equipment in a Massive Abandoned Mine in Nevada (Part 2)

The Polaris Mine is a massive abandoned mine with multiple levels, miles of drift tunnels, endless miners’ graffiti, and lots of impressive mining equipment left behind. It’s an explorer’s dream! Here in Part 2, we immediately found an old drill in spectacular condition that looked as if the last miner who was operating it simply turned it off while drilling a rock bolt and walked away. After a 150 foot ladder climb to an extensive upper level, we found a lot more miners’ graffiti from the 1910s and 1920s depicting themselves, their names, naked women, animals, and other things. We found more ore carts and an already unstable area of the mine that was seriously damaged further by a major 6.1 earthquake at the turn of the 20th century.
