Blessed Maria Restituta Kafka was a Czech Franciscan nun and martyr. Her original name was Helene Kafka. She worked as a nurse in a public hospital. While working as a nurse, she felt her religious vocation. She joined the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Love. She was the head surgical nurse in a hospital. During World War II, the Nazis demanded that all crucifixes in hospitals be removed. She refused to obey. She was arrested and guillotined for her faith. On April 6, 1998, her martyrdom was declared.
