Thousands of dancers took to the stage at a state-run gala celebrating the ruling Communist Party of China on Monday.
The gala showcased musical acts dramatising historical episodes over the past century.
Party officials praised President Xi Jinping, who has established himself as China’s most powerful leader since Mao Zedong, and has eliminated any limits on his term in office.
The crowd was heard cheering for past CCP leaders from Mao Zedong to Hu Jintao, the loudest applause was for Xi, who attended and was featured prominently in the gala.
China is marking the CCP’s centenary this week.
