Vortex - Copperplate Engraving Print with Cyclone and Chrysanthemum by printmaker Reinis Gailitis

SHOP/Patreon - A vortex is anything that’s spinning clockwise, or counterclockwise. In this engraving, the parallels between a Cyclone and Chrysanthemum are examined. Both have a similar vortex pattern. The Cyclone is simultaneously printed in intaglio and relief. Ink is rubbed inside the engraved lines while in some areas the engraved lines are left inkless and the ink is rolled on top of the plate. Vortex, Copper Engraving, Relief engraving, 2022. Print size 40x29cm, paper size ~44x34cm.
