Rodion Shchedrin plays Shchedrin Basso Ostinato - video 1964

Rodion Shchedrin playing his own Basso Ostinato live in 1964. This was part of a Soviet TV programme entitled Голубой огонек which was almost entirely light entertainment (popular song and dance). In this context Shchedrin’s piece was a total outlier. Shchedrin studied with Yakov Flier. I’ve uploaded several videos of his wonderful piano playing. Родион Щедрин - Бассо Остинато
