Longsword Techniques - Receiving Strikes on Flat

In this video Mr. Clements shows the techniques and principles of the longsword guards and receiving strikes on the flat of the blade’s strong rather than the edge. He argues that not only does using the flat preserve the structural integrity of the blade, the guards and longsword techniques themselves are idealized in combat when utilizing the flat of the blade in receiving blows.
