San’an by Yokoyama Katsuya

This koten honkyoku is performed by Yokoyama Katsuya on a 2.4 shakuhachi. The original recording was on a traditional Japanese music compilation CD entitled, “Nippon no Hibiki.“ It was this very recording that changed the course of my life! It was given to me by fellow piano major at the Crane School of Music, because she knew I had an interest in Japanese culture and music. Who knew I would end taking workshops, classes, and even had a private lesson with Yokoyama sensei.
