Oscar Van Young (1906-1991) A Curated Exhibition of Mid-Century Paintings, 1938-1967

Now representing the art-historic estate of mid-century modernist painter, Oscar Van Young (1906-1991). This is the first show of the artist’s work in Seattle and one of the first gallery exhibitions in thirty years. Like many painters, Van Young over the course of his career integrated several genres into his practice but he was most popularly known for his cityscapes. However, this first 17 piece show of oil painting, gouache, and monotype, highlights the artist’s exploration of the figure and nature as expressed through his mastery of figurative expressionism, abstraction, and post-impressionism.
