USS Los Angeles Eclipse Flight (Silent)

USS Los Angeles (ZR-3) had taken the helium from the ZR-1 and station supplies to begin operations in late in 1924. On January 24, 1925, she took scientists aboard for a flight off Block Island for the best view of the solar eclipse that day. The 10 hour flight brought along motion picture cameras that happily operated in spite of the cold and recorded the film you see in this clip. Before the advent of sound recording with the pictures, the footage is silent.
