Humanity and the Deep Ocean | James Nestor

James Nestor takes us into the ocean’s depths with freedivers who go death-defyingly hundreds of feet below the surface without scuba gear. In researching it Nestor found there’s much more to freediving than a thrillseeker’s pastime. He details compelling insights about not only the ocean and its creatures, but about our own human senses and biology which await us in the Deep. “Humanity and the Deep Ocean“ was given on October 07, 02014 as part of The Long Now Foundation’s “Conversations at The Interval” Salon Talks. These hour long talks are recorded live at The Interval, our bar, cafe, & museum in San Francisco. Since 02014 this series has presented artists, authors, entrepreneurs, scientists (and more) taking a long-term perspective on subjects like art, design, history, nature, technology, and time.
