This title track taken from Blunderbuss’ 1993 debut album, ’Day of Rest’ shows a band of young men with old souls who were already beginning their long journey of multi-layered thoughtful pop music and studio wizardry. Later known for their colourful psychedelic power pop sound, this is a young band with a very mature sound doing melancholy and poignant melodic music, not unlike the best of later era XTC or even Sting. A staple of college rock radio at the time, most snobbish music elitists rank this album among their favorites. But don’t let that turn you off from listening to it, as it is still a very fresh sounding album, even to this day. With tracks such as Peppermint Tea, Shadows in the Dark, and Raindrops alongside this initial single, the album holds many surprises for even the most hardnosed music fan. It should also be noted that on their 2023 covers album, th
