Earlier today, a wreath-laying ceremony took place at the Bundeswehr Memorial with President Steinmeier, Defence Minister Annegret Kramp-Karrenbaur, and Chancellor Angela Merkel to pay tribute to members of the military who took part in Afghanistan missions. The deployment of the German Armed Forces in Afghanistan has ended with the completion of the military evacuation operation on August 27, 2021. Fifty-nine German soldiers died in Afghanistan, with 35 of them killed in combat or due to militant attacks. #Germany #Afghanistan #Bundeswehr #GrosserZapfenstreich Video ID: 20
