Mon amie or Ma amie? French Possessive Adjectives

I have recently posted a short video asking you to find a mistake in the French sentence “J’ai appellé mon amie ce matin - I called my friend this morning“. So many of you thought the mistake was mon amie and should be either ma amie or mon ami. (The error was the spelling of appelé, which only takes one L).
