All details here : Outstanding Château, steeped in over 700 yrs of fascinating history in the heart of the Perigord Noir. The Château dates back to the 13th century when it was the stronghold of its powerful neighbour the Chateau of Carlux. In the XVIIth century it became the well maintained property of the gentry, the Faure de Rouffillac. Around 1737 it was sold to Duke Adrien de Noailles, one of the most powerful houses of France in the XVIIIth century. During the French revolution the property was occupied by the Dames de la Foi de Sarlat. Sold by the Nation, in 1850 it became the property of the family Montmeja, physicians and lawyers in Sarlat. Arthur Montmeja, was well known to scientists as he became the photographer for Professeur Alfred Hardy.
