Гимнастика! Functional Movement Vs. Joint Movement Isolation

To isolate a given muscle you need to use multiple muscles?? 🤯 Sounds paradoxical. This is why a better term for “isolation training” would be “Precision Training” as we call it in our Athlete 20XX Method. You may be able to produce a light purely isolated contraction to a muscle but as soon as there’s a higher intensity or external resistance multiple muscles will fire up for support. In strength training, there’s only “Joint Movement Isolation” that emphasizes certain muscles over others. The engagement of different postural and stabilizer muscles is unavoidable and even desirable. The real question is: Are the other muscles promoting the isolation of the targeted joint or taking away from it? Most people doing “isolation training”, cannot control their bodies. They use multiple joints to compensate and generate momentum with the whole body. Yet - even a subtle motion can ruin the engagement of the targeted muscles. True joint isolation
